On Sunday, July 20th, 2008 we are currently experiencing a bit of trouble with our content provider (Amazon S3).
This affects being able to stream and download mp3s as well as displaying our profile pictures. Amazon is working on it and should get it all back up soon. It is not just alonetone which is suffering from this outage, but all sites and services relying on S3. It's kind of a big deal that it's gone down this hard - this is the first large outage since alonetone launched in January.
* UPDATE * As of 12 midnight Vienna time (3pm PST) the amazon folks just got the EU service up but are still working on the US service. It should come up within the hour is my guess.
* UPDATE 2 * Around 2am Vienna Time, 5pm PST, amazon fully restored all service. Sorry if anyone got caught in the fray unable to listen to music. It was out of our hands, and the first big snafu amazon has experienced since alonetone launched.

I didn't realize you guys were running on S3 (though you'd think I'd have guessed). I actually work here, and I was the on-call for Amazon Web Services Platform on Sunday. It was an...exciting...day.

Woah! What? You work at Amazon web services? Crazy, man. Yeah, I bet it was absolutely nuts on Sunday -It's the first time I've noticed an outage that big,
I've been really impressed so far. Sometimes it seems that (at least here in the EU) the downloads are rate limited to 30k a second but other than that it's been nice not worrying about storage.
Is it a good job?
